PGA EuroPro Tour Tournament 2011

From the 8th to 12th August, Lingfield Park Golf Club proudly hosted the prestigious PGA Eurotour Golf Championships for the very first time.

The highly successful five day event was won by Luke Goddard 23, from Hendon in North London who ended the competition just 9 under, ahead of rivals Jamie Howarth from De Vere Motrom Hall and in third place Chris Hanson from Woodsome Hall Golf Club.

The players were extremely complimentary to Lingfield Park saying how the course was challenging but in excellent condition and how much they had enjoyed the week.

Kate Hills PR director for Arena Leisure owners of LPRC & GC said "it is the first time we have staged such a prestigious golf event and we are delighted to have received so much positive feedback with regard to our facilities at the Marriott Hotel and the excellent condition of the golf course. Our congratulations go to Luke who was thrilled to celebrate his first PGA Euro Tour Championship win at Lingfield Park".

Sean Quinney general manager at LP Marriott Hotel & Golf Club was delighted with the event and in a closing speech he said, "It has been a tremendous week, my special thanks go to the PGA and the players, everyone has been so complimentary, we were delighted to stage the event. I must also thank the Lingfield Park Golf Club Members, especially all the volunteers who have helped out, and all the hard working green staff who started at 4 am each morning. We have thoroughly enjoyed hosting the tour and look forward to welcoming everyone back in years to come."

Champion player Luke Goddard echoed Sean's sentiments thanking Lingfield Park for a tremendous week, he went on to say "This gets me a step closer to the Challenge Tour and I've got a very good chance if I carry this form on.

"My putting has improved over the last few weeks. All season I've been hitting it solidly but not putting the scores together but in the last few weeks that has changed.
"The Challenge Tour is the main step for me now and I think I would do very well there. I've led on the European Tour before and it suits my game at a higher level."
