Today notes the most prestigious and competitive racing event of Lingfield Park's calendar, the totesport.com Derby Trial, launching the beginning of an exciting summer programme of racing on the turf track. This high profile Group 3 race is run over 1 mile 3 furlongs 106 yards and is one of the most successful trial races in Britain with eight Derby Trial winners gone on to win the Derby since the trial was first run at the Surrey track in 1932.
The trial takes place three weeks before the Derby, which is perfect timing for three-year-olds to experience an undulating course with so many similarities to the Derby track. This day also features The totesport Chartwell Fillies Stakes (Group 3) and The totesport Oaks Trial (Listed) and offers total prize money fund of over £227,000 for the day.

Henry Cecil has two runners, including Timepiece who is running in the totesportcasino.com Oaks Trial. Last year he won the Oaks Trial with Midday, who went onto run in the Oaks at Epsom, but was beaten by a head by Sariska.
Britain's Champion Jockey Ryan Moore rides, whilst Johnny Murtagh represents Ireland and Gerald Mosse comes over from France. They will all be out to win the prestigious Derby Trial.
